Try something new!

Ever try chia seed pudding? It’s better than it sounds *:P tongue.  Chia seeds are loaded with Omega 3s which help reduce inflammation in the body.  They also have fiber and some protein.  You can find them in lots of stores now, and I get mine at Sprouts.

This is made in the evening to be eaten the next morning in place of your regular cereal and/or breakfast items. The basic recipe is to take 2 tablespoons of chia seeds and stir them into 1/2 cup of almond milk or coconut milk.  I prefer the Silk brand 30 calorie/cup unsweetened almond milk. Then, I add a teaspoon of organic vanilla and shake some cinnamon into it.  There are a variety of ways to make this (you can google them if you’re interested).  Some people add nuts, fruit, honey and/or brown sugar before putting in the refrigerator for the night, but I wait and add those things in the morning.  You also should give it a stir or two before going to bed so it doesn’t clump together too much.  In the morning, stir and add cut up fruit (I love bananas and berries).  I suppose you could heat it up a little if you wanted too.
How about Kombucha?  Kombucha is a type of fermented tea that you can buy bottled in the grocery store (Vons, Whole Foods, Sprouts).  Most Americans don’t have enough fermented products in their diets such as cabbage, kimchi, etc. These products aid greatly in digestion. I recommend buying a bottle and trying it.  Since it’s fermented, it is effervescent so while it could use some shaking, be very gentle with it! I like the Gingerade and berry flavors best, and now drink a half to a whole bottle every night. Here’s a link to the website for the brand I drink, and you can read more about it there.  Basically, it helps your body eliminate waste products which, in turn, improves absorption of healthy nutrients!!
